The meeting of the UN-HABITAT Advisory Board of Experts on Decentralization (AGRED) was held on December 10-11, 2007 at NIUA, New Delhi. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and NIUA co-hosted the meeting with the UN-HABITAT.

The objective of the meeting was to consider strategies for assisting countries adapt the Guidelines on Decentralization to their national contexts. It also considered developing tools and indicators for monitoring the implementation of the Guidelines on Decentralization.

Kumari Selja, Hon’ble Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation inaugurated the meeting. Mr. Lars Reutersward, Head of delegation (UN-HABITAT) and Prof. O.P. Mathur, Member of the Advisory Board of Experts on Decentralization presided in the Inaugural Session. The delegation comprised of fifteen international experts on decentralization.
