The Smart City Secretariat, Barcelona and NIUA organised a Roundtable on Smart Cities World Congress 2012 (www.smartcityexpo.com) in NIUA on Wednesday May 23, 2012. The Roundtable would focused on current challenges for urban India and how Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) could assist in planning and managing Cities in India. Presentations were be made by:

(a) Mr. Luis Gomez, Director Smart City World Congress, Fira de Barcelona;

(b) Mr. Sunil Dubey, Metropolis Manager and Faculty University of Sydney; and

(c) Mr. Prakash Kumar, Director Internet Business Solutions Group, CISCO Systems.

The Roundtable was attended by representatives of cities, financing institutions, NGOs, research organisations. There was intensive discussion on use of ICT in urban sector in India.
