The Metropolis is an international association of major cities. It is formally recognised by the United Nations. Its Standing Commissions undertake major international studies.
The Commission 2: Managing Urban Growth met in New Delhi, December 3-5, 2009. This meeting was jointly organised by Metropolis, NIUA and IBM. About 20 cities from Australia, South Korea, Egypt, Spain, Iran, India, etc. participated in the meeting. Presentations were made on Melbourne, Sydney, Cairo, Pune, Udaipur, Kolkatta, Mumbai, Jamshedpur, etc.
Discussions were also held on specific areas like municipal finance, heritage, poor planning, e-Governance, etc. More information will be available on Metropolis website.
