A
half-day workshop to launch the
National Municipal Accounting Training Manual
and Municipal Accounting Training Manual
for Elected Representatives and Top Management was organized on 15
February 2008 at NIUA. The workshop was organized by NIUA in partnership
with Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India with support from
INDO-USAID FIRE-D Project and office of the Comptroller & Auditor
General (C&AG) of India.
Shri
M. Ramachandran, Secretary UD delivered the keynote address and released
the Manuals. These manuals are expected to strengthen the capacity of
local governments through introduction of improved financial management,
budgeting, accounting and auditing practices.
It will support the ULBs in their endeavors in achieving the
municipal accounting reforms agenda under the JNNURM.
The workshop had participation from Ministry of Urban Development, USAID, World Bank, WSP, management and finance consultants, etc.
