Presentation to HPEC on Urban Infrastructure Costs

A presentation on, “Estimating Urban Infrastructure Financing Requirements in India-2006-31” was made to the High Powered Experts Committee (HPEC) on Urban Infrastructure by Mr Ramesh Ramanathan and Mr Shubhagato Dasgupta on October 30, 2009.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Isher Ahluwalia. This presentation was also attended by Mr. Arun Maira, Member, Planning Commission and Mr Gajendra Haldea, Advisor Planning Commission. Mr. Maira, Mr. Haldia and the HPEC members appreciated the efforts and gave their comments on the paper.
These included: explore feasibility of achieving service level benchamarks; need to separate out capital and O&M costs; provide total capital costs by 5-year planned periods; identify areas of innovations, etc. The authors will be incorporating the suggestions in the revised paper.
