Views and inputs of metro cities are important for the High Powered Expert Committee (HPEC) for estimating the investment requirements for Urban Infrastructure Services chaired by Dr. Isher Ahluwalia. Therefore, the Committee met Mayors and Municipal Commissioners of Metro Cities on November 12, 2009. |
| It was attended by Mayors of Delhi and Mumbai, Municipal Commissioners of Delhi, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Mumbai, and Kolkata, and Mr. Jairaj Phatak, former Municipal Commissioner, Mumbai. |

The city representatives made brief presentations on investment requirements, problems of planning and implementing projects and reforms, financial constraints, feasibility of PPP and market-based financing, need for capacity building, etc. in their cities. There was extensive discussion of HPEC members with the city representatives. |
