Mr. Alain Bertaud delivered a presentation on, "Land Markets, Government Interventions and Housing Affordability" outlining a brief history of urban planning and land markets. His presentation citied case studies from India, Korea, China and Thailand. Through these studies, he explained process of measuring the way markets distribute urban land by income group and location, and how government action impact land supply and consumption. He also brought out an agenda for research with the main objective to study the cost, benefit and impacts on land markets of specific regulations and make a regular assessment of their alignment with Government's social and ecological objectives.

There were extensive discussions at the end of the presentation and Ms. Patricia Annez thanked all the participants.
