Key takeaways from the presentation include (a) cities remain critical to India's growth; (b) current approach to cities would lead to urban gridlock and decline; (c) it is possible to transform cities in a decade; (d) specific interventions across five areas will unlock Indian cities – funding, governance, planning, sector policies, and shape; and (e) to make this happen the Central Government can catalyze three big actions – creating political alignment, creating a second generation JNNURM, and building institutions and capacity. The presentation was followed by detailed discussions.
