A Mayors conference on urban poverty alleviation was organised by All India Institute of Local Self Govt. (AIILSG) and Rajkot Municipal Corporation in Rajkot on March 30-31, 2008. It was supported by Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and United Nations Development Program. Over 60 Mayors, Deputy Mayors, Municipal Elected Leaders and officers attended this event. Professor Chetan Vaidya, Director, NIUA was a resource person for the conference.
Prof. Chetan Vaidya delivered a presentation on NIUA activities and Community-led Toilet Project in Sangali. Technical session was chaired by Dr. Shubha Raul, Mayor, Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation and other member of the panel was Mr. Ramanath Jha, IAS, Principal Secretary (Transport), Govt. of Maharashtra. The participants showed keen interest in the Sangali project and the activities of NIUA.
