National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) is providing secretarial and research support to the National Technical Advisory Group (NTAG) under JNNURM since September 2008. The Municipal Corporation of Rajkot organized a one day city consultation for establishing CTAG(City Technical Advisory Group) -CVTC (City Volunteer Technical Corps) under JnNURM along with the support of the Anchor NGO Unnati on 21st October 2008. The event was chaired by Mr. H Brahmbhatt, Municipal Commissioner Rajkot  along with the Ms Sandhyaben, City Mayor.

National TAG was represented by TAG coordination Cell team (i.e. Ms Nitika & Ms Sonali).Ms Nitika made detailed presentation on the experiences and learnings from other Mission cities where CTAG-CVTCs have been formed (i.e. Madurai, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Patna & Raipur). She also shared information with regards to Community Participation Fund and the kind of projects that can be sent under this programme & encouraged the corporation as well as the civil society members to make full use of this initiative by MoUD & participate in their city's development.

The roles and responsibilities of CTAG-CVTC were shared by Mr. Binoy Acharya (Director of NGO Unnati) and all the prospective CTAG-CVTC members were given a chance to present their views with regards to the urban issues of Rajkot city .Mr.Vijay Anandkat (Team Leader, JnNURM) shared the projects being undertaken in Rajkot under JnNURM.

The final announcement of the membership of CTAG-CVTC will be made in near future.
