Committee of Norwegian Labour Party lead by Mr.Olav Akselsen, MP and
Speaker of Committee on Foreign Affairs, Norwegian Parliament alongwith
eleven members visited NIUA on September 11, 2008.
Prof. Chetan Vaidya, Director NIUA made a presentation on “Challenges
and Opportunities of India’s Urbanisation”.

| The Committee members had an interesting discussion with NIUA staff on level of urbanization, urban poverty, SEZ policy, heritage city development, etc. Two members of the Committee represented local governments in Norway and had specific questions regarding urban governance in India. |
