The event was a knowledge sharing session for Asian, European and African cities with presentations from NIUA, TERI, Global Challenges Research Fund Partners, BBSR, Germany and Global Resilient Cities Network. The side event provided a platform for a face to face discussion on the various innovative approaches and tools being adopted by practitioners and researchers from these regions. Geospatial technologies offer adequate opportunities in studying, quantifying and monitoring urban growth both in spatial and temporal aspects, and was an important aspect of discussion.
The event also disseminated lessons from the Urban Thinkers Campus (UTC) on ‘The Resilient City We Need’, New Delhi, September 2019. A Policy Brief was released during the event to share key lessons and good practice examples from the Indian context. The Report on India and Europe/ Germany: Spatial Structure and Trends was also released. At the event, different policy options to effectively plan, review and evaluatesustainable and resilient urban development from various lenses including women and children was discussed.
