City Form for India: Sustainable Urban Form for Indian CitiesUKIERI Award Winner 2008-09, City Form India, NIUA

About the Project

NIUA is partnering with Oxford Institute for Sustainable Development, Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) Ahmedabad, School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) Delhi, IIT Delhi and network of stakeholders for this research project.

Major Objectives  

The objectives of this proposed project are as follows: 

  • Identify gaps in knowledge relating to sustainable urban form in India cities; 

  • Identify gaps in policy and practice relating to sustainable urban form in Indian cities; 

  • Examine how policy is interpreted and implemented at the local level; 

  • Investigate how urban form performs in terms of sustainability. 

Faridabad and Rajkot have been selected for pilot study.
