Anil Rai

M.A. (Economics), M.Phil. (International Relations)

Anil Rai is an economist from Jawaharlal Nehru University with over 20 years professional experience in the urban sector. He is a Senior Research Officer at the Institute and also Editor of Urban India, NIUA’s bi–annual journal. He has coordinated and conducted research projects and studies on several topics including informal sector, urban policy issues for the north eastern region, cost of urban infrastructure, impact of World Bank credit on urban institutions among others. He has organized and conducted a series of training programmes on ‘Urban Infrastructure Project Development’ for municipal officials.  He has participated in the Staff Development and Training Programme on “Urban Resource Management” at the Centre for International Development, Research Triangle Institute, North Carolina, USA and undertaken training on “Urban Informal Sector Management” at the International Labour Organisation, Geneva. He has a number of published papers and research reports in urban and applied economic fields to his credit.
