Video Films

• Working with Urban Poor through Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) Techniques

(Available in English and Hindi)

This film provides an orientation to the various participatory techniques that can be used while working in partnership with the urban poor. This 20-25 minute film, depicts the exercise in detail and explains the various applications for these exercise.

• Identification of the Poor Using Participatory Processes

(Available in English and Hindi)

This film of 15 minutes uses a few PLA techniques to identify the poorest of the poor in a community. It also documents similar exercises conducted in different states and the at risk indicators developed by communities for the identification of the poorest.

• Communities in Action

(Available in English and Hindi)

This is a set of about 5 minute video films on different communities in four towns of India – Kanpur, Jaipur, Gurgaon and Cuddelore. The films focus on the efforts made by these communities on issues like education, sanitation, employment generation etc. They show how these people have improved their communities through their own efforts.
