• The Role of Urban and Peri-urban Agriculture in Metropolitan City Management in the Developing Countries, 2000

The study tries to understand the concept and characteristics of urban agriculture, reviews the policies that might influence such developments, studies the importance given to urban agriculture, reviews the policies that might influence such developments, studies the importance given to urban agriculture in both city development and urban environmental management and estimates its potential role in sustainable urban development. Finally, the study tries to analyse the contribution of urban agriculture in the National Capital of Delhi.

• Improvement Initiatives in Solid Waste Management in Selected Cities of India, 1999

The present study documents some of the innovative initiatives taken by the local governments of selected cities of India to improve solid waste management through various measures including improving efficiency, finding administrative and technical solutions to improving waste collection and disposal, involving the private sector and NGOs in improving the service, and exploring new ways of financing investment.

• Environmental Improvement of Urban Slums: An Evaluative Study, 1997

The study attempts to make a comprehensive evaluation of environmental improvement of urban slums through a systematic analysis of the E.I.U.S. scheme and its achievements, its specified targets and objectives. The EIUS programme is examined at the national level based on the reports received from the states. The information gathered from Kerala, U.P. and Rajasthan is analysed in detail.

• Urban Environmental Atlas, 1994

Rs800; US$75

Contains a set of maps on urban environmental infrastructure in four cities of India viz. Delhi, Bombay, Ahmedabad and Vadodara. These would serve as an important source of information on the areas that are confronted with environmental problems within each of the above cities. They also display information on the existing as well as proposed environmental infrastructure in these cities. This document would be immensely useful to local officials and citizen groups associated with the formulation and initiation of local environmental action plans.
