DR. SATPAL SINGH is a Research Analyst at the Institute since February 1988 and has more than 20 years of professional experience in various facets of urban and social sectors, which include urban development, municipal finance, urban infrastructure services, urban slums and urban governance. He has a Ph.D degree in Sociology from Panjab University, Chandigarh. Besides, he has two masters degrees in Economic and Sociology from Rajasthan University and Annamalai University respectively. He did certificate course on 'Decentralisation and Capacity Building on Urban Governance' organised by the Institute For Housing and Urban Development Studies, Rotterdam at New Delhi. In between, Dr. Satpal Singh has worked as a Senior Executive in the urban governance programme at the Participatory Research In Asia (PRIA), New Delhi for two years (May 2007-2009). He was member of the Project Coordination Forum in PRIA for one year (April 2008- March 2009). His areas of specialisation are solid waste management, urban service delivery and urban finance. He has presented various research papers on urban issues in the international and national conferences/seminars. Dr. Singh has published a book entitled 'Solid Waste Management in Resettlement Colonies of Delhi: A study of People's Participation and Urban Policy' by Bookwell publication, New Delhi. A number of research reports and published research papers on subject related to urban affairs in the edited books and reputed research journals are in his name.
