Sandeep Thakur is a Senior Research Officer at the Institute. He has a Masters degree in Statistics from Institute of Social Sciences, Agra. He is also completing his PhD in Urban Economics at JNU, New Delhi. Prior to NIUA, he worked with the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI-ARF) and before that he worked with the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP) for more than a decade. He has contributed as a co-author in many urban research studies, which were mainly funded by UNDP, CIDA, World Bank and Eleventh & Twelfth Finance Commissions. His specialization is in municipal finance and budgeting systems of urban local bodies as well as in public policies related to urban areas and municipal legislations.
